    Owner & Founder

    Chance Baker

Construction work isn't glamorous. Winters are freezing. Summers push you to the edge of heat exhaustion. But for me, it never felt like punishment. It felt like where I belonged.

Chance has been around construction his entire life. By the time he was ten, he already knew it was the path he'd take. His dad, uncles, brothers, and cousins were all in the trades. Most of the people he grew up around worked with their hands, and that world always felt like home.

In his mid-twenties, he stepped away — launching a call center subcontracting for Yahoo and Wyndham Resorts, then starting a high-risk security company working venues with a high potential for violence. The money was good and the hours were great, but something was missing. On weekends he'd find himself helping friends on construction sites for free, just to get his hands dirty again.

Much of what he knows today came from his step-dad, who drilled the fundamentals of the trade and a relentless work ethic into him from an early age. Growing up meant working seven days a week, sunup to sundown. Holidays were the only exceptions. Those experiences shaped Chance's discipline and standards — but they also taught him something else: life has to be more than just work. Today he works hard, but he also believes in enjoying the life that work provides and sharing it with the people who matter most.

Chance believes the difference between a good contractor and a great one comes down to the experience.

A good contractor will get the job done correctly. A great contractor will get it done correctly, on time, within budget, and with clear communication from start to finish.

Remodeling always disrupts a homeowner's life. There will be noise, trucks in the driveway, tools everywhere, and parts of the home temporarily out of commission. Chance believes the contractor's job is to make that process as smooth and respectful as possible — over-communicating, cleaning up every day, and treating the home like it deserves to be treated.

Transparency is another principle he refuses to compromise on. Too many contractors promise things they know they can't deliver just to win a job. If something can't be done, Chance will explain why and offer the closest solution that can be done properly.

Trust is everything to him. When someone hires Armstrong Construction, they're allowing a crew into their home — around their family and their belongings. Chance sees that as a responsibility and an honor, and he treats it accordingly.
